"A treasure in the Sierra Madre" describes the end-of-the-road Cozy Canyon Ranch, only 30 minutes southwest of historic Saratoga, Wyoming. Not only is this 640-acre mountain hideaway at 8000 feet a paradise for mule deer, black bear, plentiful elk and trophy trout, but it is also supplied with power, phone, a spacious lodge and three comfortable guest cabins. Indeed, Cozy Canyon Ranch is "turnkey ready" for operation as a recreational resort, hunting and fishing lodge or as an exclusive private retreat.

Abundant snowfall in Wyoming's Sierra Madre Range feeds the lifeblood of the ranch, South Spring Creek and its tributary, Chippewa Creek, totalling 2.5 miles of flowing water on the property. Both creeks run year-round with water as clear as a Wyoming morning sky, and support populations of wild brook and brown trout up to about 12 inches. Below the ranch headquarters, South Spring Creek feeds five trout ponds that are suitable for bank or float tube fishing. Brown trout, brook trout and rainbow trout thrive in the ponds, and some exceed five pounds. A quaint fishing hut is located nearby, a perfect retreat from thunderstorms or for an afternoon nap. For anglers venturing off the Ranch, the world-class North Platte River is less than an hour distant.

Varied habitat makes Cozy Canyon Ranch a favored refuge for mule deer, elk and black bear. Along the creeks, heavy forests of mature spruce and fir create cool retreats in the summer, lodgepole pine and aspen cover the steeper slopes, and sagebrush and limber pine dot the uplands. With plentiful food and water, deer, elk, black bear and many species of birds thrive at Cozy Canyon. Virtually surrounded by public land with healthy free-ranging elk herds, Cozy Canyon has amazing hunting possibilities. Two landowner elk tags and two deer tags are included. Additional annual hunting tags for Area 15 are easy to acquire.

Improvements on the ranch include a lovely 3024-square foot lodge with exposed beams, a large kitchen, dining area, rock fireplace and a great room expansive enough for dancing. Nearby are three fully-furnished guest cabins, two of which overlook cascading South Spring Creek. Power, phone and satellite television makes a stay at Cozy Canyon far from a "roughing it" experience.

Literally at the end of the road, Cozy Canyon Ranch has a rare "edge of the wilderness" feel to it. Many square miles of the Medicine Bow National Forest create a virtually private backyard for the ranch. Horses, hikers and ATVs can access this backcountry in the summer through a system of trails, and in the winter, snowmobiles can connect with hundreds of miles of Sierra Madre snowmobile trails directly from the Ranch.

Only 18 miles and 30 minutes away, Saratoga offers plenty of civilization in a small package. Fine restaurants, the Old Baldy Fishing and Golf Club and Saratoga Hot Springs are but a few of the attractions nearby in one of Wyoming's "best kept small town secrets." Saratoga is accessible by only a two and one half hour drive from Cheyenne via Interstate 80 and Highway 130. Shively Field Airport is only 30 minutes away at the edge of Saratoga.
